Autumnal Good Stuff

I don’t know what things are like where you are, but around here, we went straight from shorts and flip flops weather to fleece jacket and warm beanie weather, with no in between. It’s been mostly cold rain and runny noses for the last two weeks. Hurray for seasons changing!

To brighten up your experience of fall, I’ve compiled a short list of good stuff from my life right now. Please enjoy with a cup of tea and a fuzzy blanket.

Libraries: Okay, so I know this is not a revelation. But when was the last time you went to the library and just wandered through the FREE BOOKS?? I went last week and was so delighted that I needed to remind you guys that libraries exist. Go explore the many worlds that await you in those shelves. For free. You’re welcome.

Ghost Town: Looking for a fun, witty rom-com to watch for your night in? Travel back to 2008 and then look no farther. Streaming on Amazon Prime, Ghost Town is silly, clever, and light-hearted. Plus who doesn’t love Ricky Gervais?

The Athletic: I stumbled upon this gem on Twitter. The Athletic is a subscription sports site that is incredibly thorough in their reporting. I actually found them because this season they have consistently covered the NWSL, which is rare, and much appreciated by soccer fans. Billed annually, it’s pretty cheap, and you can customize your dashboard to follow specific teams or sports. Pretty fun stuff!

Miranda Lambert’s new single, Tequila Does: You guys, I was in the crowd when Miranda performed this for the first time, and let me tell you, it was delightful. As she said a few weeks ago, “This song is country. And country makes me happy.”

Bonus: Since I’ve already tipped my country hat (cowboy hat?) I’ll share the thing that made me smile wide when I woke up this morning. On her tour this year, Carrie Underwood has invited one fan up to rap a portion of one of her songs. At her stop in Oklahoma last night, she invited her #1 fan on stage with her. Trust me, you want to see this.

That’s all I’ve got for now. What are you enjoying this fall?

  1. Ok Miranda’s cover of “Fooled around and fell in love” (along with Maren and Elle King). AMAZING.

    1. I listened to that on repeat for several days in a row.

      1. SO good…their voices together are perfection
