As we head into a new year and people have all the time in the world to reflect on their vast accomplishments from 2020 and giant goals for 2021 (“I ran 3,000 miles this year!” or “I will be able to bench press my pickup truck by 2022!”) please don’t forget:
It’s okay if you just made it through.
It’s okay if the things you did in 2020 were just good enough.
It’s okay if your only goal for 2021 is to make it through 2021.
If you’re out there trying to keep going and doing the best you can, I’m proud of you and you’re doing okay, no matter how you feel or what you read on Instagram.
Don’t let the glitter of the achievers blind you – your goals and your to-do list do not dictate your value.
So tonight at midnight (or 8pm or whenever you’re getting ready for bed) raise your water glass or your vodka or your sleepy-time tea and give a toast to yourself so you don’t forget: You made it. And we’re all glad that you did.
