Book Cover Reveal

It’s book cover time, y’all! My first novel, Violindy: A Hilarious And Cozy Heist Novel, will be released on October 25th. And I am so excited to share this cover with you! Without further ado, here it is:

book cover for my upcoming novel, violindy

When I first started thinking about a cover for this novel, I honestly didn’t know where to start. Violindy is a crime novel, but there’s no murder, and it’s not as dark as a typical thriller. Consequently, typical crime novel colors and themes (black and red, knives, guns, and blood) just didn’t seem to fit; we needed something outside the box for this unique and quirky book. But I still wanted to convey that it’s not just a sweet and happy novel—a difficult balance to strike.

Thankfully, my designer and friend, Elizabeth Caudle, understood the assignment. She knew that this book’s undertone is “wacky” and told me she had ideas. A few weeks into the process, she emailed me, saying, “I think this book cover is going to be wild.”

“You know I love wild,” I replied.

And it is wild. And I love it.

She took the garden party theme (a major plot point that you’ll understand when you read it) and turned it a little…strange…adding a few other items relevant to the plot designed to throw off your first glance. Then we went with a classic font for the title, but she buried it in the foliage, giving you the idea that not everything is as it seems, a common thread across crime novel covers. The whole effect is a bright and cheerful visual that is just a little off, perfectly reflecting this novel.

I’ll share the plot synopsis with you next week. But for now, can you guess what this book is about, just from the book cover reveal?
